Hi. I have a problem. I collect domain names. I currently have 90+. You see I have all these great ideas for websites and web apps and bookmarklets and SMS apps and weird little web utilities and such.

That it in itself is not a problem, the problem is I get a little too excited and purchase the domain. I actually know my GoDaddy.com account number off by heart. Sometimes on the drive home from work, I’ll have a great idea for a web app, check different combinations of the name on Domai.nr and buy it on GoDaddy whilst waiting for a stoplight to change to green. All on my phone. I’ve bought domains by auction (I’ve got some great ones BTW). I’ve scooped up expired domains before they go back into public.

Thing is I’ve never launched anything, not one app, or info product, or bookmarklet or blog…. nada, zilch, squat.

I’ve built web apps and web sites for others but when it comes to myself, once I get started, it sucks, then I lose interest. The joke is I know what I’m doing. I know how to code, I know good design, I know SEO, inbound marketing, database management, system administration, benefits of NoSQL vs relational DB’s, how to leverage social media channels, e-commerce, email marketing, Google Adwords, AWS and all the other bullshit lingo that makes up the web today, yet no action.

I read this quote from Ira Glass and it really hit home. His solution is to power through… to finish even if it is crap and move on to the next. Done is better than perfect.

Well things have to change. I can’t keep paying for the renewals and sure as shit no one is beating down my door in the after market to buy them from me, so they either go, or they start making money.

So here’s the plan:

It’s New Years Day 2016. At least four of my ideas have to be launched this year. I have one almost ready to go

I’ll post the summary of my adventures here, so stay tuned for details

Wish me luck as I power through….
